home grown

i was at my parents' home in iowa at the end of july, and my father decided to send me back to dc with a crop of home-grown veggies in my suitcase. my luggage weighed about 30 lbs when i got to my parents' house - it weighed 47 lbs by the time my dad was finished adding his organic masterpieces to it. i just wanted to share some of the oddities that i was sent home with. since the big grocery store suppliers tend to genetically alter every molecule of the stuff they grow, it is fun to see the stuff that hasn't been altered at all. these little gems make me happy.

and i heart onions too!

very lady-like carrots - legs crossed!
