another season, another reason, for makin' whoopee...

i found a recipe for pumpkin whoopee pie on taste spotting, and i had to try them. i'm not sure why this was a must, but it was. anyway, i made them in honor of janet's birthday (she is the visitor services manager at the museum). they were much loved by my department at our bi-monthly meeting. and they were much loved by my roommates and manzo during a rousing game of settlers the night before. and i'm hoping the soul remaining whoopee pie will be much loved by me sometime this week. i stuck it in the freezer. the original blogger i stole/borrowed this recipe from said they were mighty tasty frozen...

*note that most pumpkin whoopee pie recipes call for a cream cheese based filling, but i wasn't feelin' it for this recipe. so i opted for a recipe that had more of a buttercream based filling instead. soooo good.
